A vision from a magazine, this bird impacted me profoundly. I didn’t know woodpeckers where so colorful.
I did the original design to make a quilt – you can see that the bird is “cut in pieces.”
By then, my hands were not healthy enough to endure another quilting project and that’s how I decided to make a painting out of it.
Most of the painting was done with stencil sponges, only the feathers were done with brushes.
If you must know, I used to be afraid of brushes – I didn’t think I had the knowledge and hand control to use them.
