Pero cuando mi sobrina vino de Noruega y not&#233; lo mucho que hab&#237;a crecido, me inspir&#233; para pintarla bien grande! El tipo de persona que viene a mi mente en este momento es el conocid&iacute;simo &ldquo;Impertinente de piano bar.&rdquo; Todos nos hemos preguntado alguna vez cu&aacute;l es el m&oacute;vil de esta categor&iacute;a de gente sin categor&iacute;a, sin clase, que gusta de importunar a las mujeres cuando &eacute;stas tratan de pasar un momento agradable y feliz en un piano bar, solas o acompa&ntilde;adas. </p> <p>En este cap&iacute;tulo de su &ldquo;Manual del Ocioso&rdquo; describiremos a este personaje no tan legendario. Haremos un an&aacute;lisis detallado de todo aquello que hace que el impertinente de piano bar sea tan pintoresco y detestado como actualmente es. Comenzaremos con la infancia de este individuo imaginario al que llamaremos Ruperto. </p> <h3>La Infancia de Ruperto </h3> <p>La se&ntilde;ora bien vestida atraviesa la calle, llevando en sus manos dos bolsas llenas de comestibles y unos cuantos productos de belleza. Ruperto, de 12 a&ntilde;os, se le queda mirando. La se&ntilde;ora siente una fuerte mirada atravesando las bolsas de comestibles y siente temor. Al llegar al otro lado de la calle, descubre al peque&ntilde;o Ruperto escondido detr&aacute;s de un anuncio de lentejas, mir&aacute;ndola afanosamente. La se&ntilde;ora bien vestida no sabe si hacerle entender que ella lo ha descubierto o simplemente ignorarlo. El peque&ntilde;o Ruperto decide entrar en acci&oacute;n y ofrece a la se&ntilde;ora cargarle las bolsas. La se&ntilde;ora se arrepiente de haber pensado mal del peque&ntilde;o caballero y le entrega las bolsas confiadamente. Cuando menos se lo espera, el peque&ntilde;o Ruperto le abre las bolsas y comienza la conversaci&oacute;n. </p> <p>- As&iacute; pues, &iquest;conque comprandito? </p> <p>La se&ntilde;ora se desconcierta pero le contesta: </p> <p>- Pues s&iacute;, comprandito, para no perder la costumbre.</p> <p>- &iquest;Y qu&eacute; es esto que tenemos por aqu&iacute;? &iexcl;Ah! Mantequilla suave, de la que no tiene calor&iacute;as. Se&ntilde;ora, pero usted no necesita de eso, tiene una figura tan esbelta... </p> <p>La se&ntilde;ora se sonroja y le contesta halagada: </p> <p>- Ay s&iacute;, es que yo me cuido mucho. Voy al gimnasio dos veces por semana y bailo todas las noches hasta el amanecer.</p> <p>- &iquest;Que no la conozco yo entonces? Usted tiene un vestido rojo, muy escotado y muy corto, que se lo pone todas las noches cuando va quien sabe a d&oacute;nde. </p> <p>La se&ntilde;ora se molesta. El ni&ntilde;o sabe m&aacute;s de la cuenta. </p> <p>- Pues no, yo no tengo ning&uacute;n vestido rojo as&iacute; como el que t&uacute; dices.</p> <p>- No, claro que no - le contesta el p&iacute;caro. - Ya no lo tiene porque lo mand&oacute; a te&ntilde;ir y ahora es negro. Pero a ver, &iquest;qu&eacute; m&aacute;s tenemos por aqu&iacute;? </p> <p>- Ni&ntilde;o, deja las bolsas.</p> <p>- &iexcl;Aj&aacute;! &iexcl;Anticonceptivos! Pero, &iquest;no es usted soltera?</p> <p>- Eso es abono para las plantas.</p> <p>- S&iacute; ... por cierto, que el se&ntilde;or Cipriano tiene muchas plantas en su casa. &iquest;Es usted quien las atiende? Se la ve a usted entrar y salir con mucha frecuencia de casa de don Cipriano. </p> <p>La se&ntilde;ora est&aacute; que explota. </p> <p>- S&iacute;, mijo, yo le riego las plantas y le hago la limpieza a su casa.</p> <p>- &iquest;Con el vestidito rojo?</p> <p>- &iexcl;Negro! <br>- Ah, verdad, perd&oacute;n.</p> <p>- &iexcl;No, qu&eacute; digo, con ropa normal y corriente, como la de cualquier mujer! Y si no te molesta, ni&ntilde;o, dame las bolsas. Ya me tengo que ir. </p> <p>El peque&ntilde;o Ruperto le entrega las bolsas lentamente sonriendo maliciosamente. </p> <p>- Vaya, se&ntilde;ora, que se le hace tarde para ponerle las pastillitas a las plantas. Me saluda a don Cipriano.. </p> <p>La se&ntilde;ora bien vestida no contesta porque est&aacute; realmente apurada. Rupertito la observa salir en carrera, entrar a su casa, salir ahora vestida de negro y adentrarse en casa de don Cipriano. </p> <h3>La Adolescencia de Ruperto </h3> <p>Ruperto tiene ahora 17 a&ntilde;os. Est&aacute; en la plenitud de su juventud, pero no ha logrado hacerse de ninguna novia. Todas las muchachas de su escuela lo conocen bien y no s&oacute;lo le temen sino que lo detestan. Sin embargo, una nueva estudiante es el blanco de Ruperto. Ella no lo conoce ni sabe de su fama, as&iacute; que probablemente logre conquistarla. Se propone firmemente no cometer indiscreciones para remendar su nombre. En el primer receso de la clase de la ma&ntilde;ana, Ruperto se acerca a Elda. </p> <p>- Elda, divina flor: &iexcl;Qu&eacute; ojos tan bonitos tienes! </p> <p>Elda se sonroja y se acerca confiada al gal&aacute;n que la piropea. Ruperto se siente due&ntilde;o de la situaci&oacute;n y le lanza un segundo piropo: </p> <p>- Elda, Elda querida, Elda de mi vida, Elda m&iacute;a.. &iexcl;Mi Elda! </p> <p>A los o&iacute;dos de Elda, la &uacute;ltima combinaci&oacute;n de palabras ha sonado vulgar. Retrocede un paso, esperando a ver qu&eacute; m&aacute;s le va a decir aquel joven tan ordinario. </p> <p>Ruperto se ha dado cuenta de lo que ha dicho y trata de reparar el error. </p> <p>- Elda, tu cuerpo es lindo como el de una gacela, tu voz es brillante como la de un turpial, es que te miro y siento que ya. ..- </p> <p>Mientras camina hacia ella, quien ha bajado la cara modestamente y no lo est&aacute; viendo, Ruperto mete el pie en un charco de agua y grita: </p> <p>-&iexcl;Me moj&eacute;! </p> <p>Esto ha sido demasiado para Elda. Lo abofetea y se larga. Esto es lo que llevar&aacute; a Ruperto a ser un impertinente de piano bar. El trauma causado por el desprecio de Elda cuando &eacute;l trataba de ser elegante y discreto por primera vez cambia su mente por completo, convirti&eacute;ndose en un monstruo, un ser m&aacute;s despreciable, un total incalable. </p> <h3>Ruperto en su Madurez </h3> <p>A los 35 a&ntilde;os, Ruperto ya no es el mismo ni&ntilde;o de pecas graciosas, cabellera abundante y cuerpo m&aacute;s o menos aceptable. Los desprecios de las mujeres lo han llevado a la deformidad de un cuerpo fofo, a una calvicie galopante y a unas l&iacute;neas de expresi&oacute;n causadas por la amargura. Todos estos detalles se acent&uacute;an cada d&iacute;a, al igual que se acent&uacute;a el rechazo de las hembras. Ruperto es m&aacute;s agresivo todav&iacute;a; la lengua se le ha vuelto viperina y los ojos perrunos. Tiene manos de pulpo y sus ventosas se adhieren a las pieles femeninas, costando gran trabajo desprenderse de ellas. Tiene la habilidad del b&uacute;ho para ver de noche y divisar a sus presas, y corre como un venado cuando las quiere agarrar. El hombre es un verdadero animal. </p> <h3>Ruperto en su Senilidad </h3> <p>El hombrecillo calvo, deforme y encorvado hace su entrada en el piano bar. Un rumor corre como reguero de p&oacute;lvora que, al encenderse, produce un sonido que emula el temido nombre: &ldquo;&iexcl;Ruperto!&rdquo; </p> <p>Ruperto ya ha entrado y busca una mesa. La joven mesonera Allison, que ya lo conoce bien, aparece vistiendo su nueva armadura. </p> <p>- Se&ntilde;or Ruperto, su mesa es la n&uacute;mero nueve. </p> <p>Ruperto adopta su voz melosa y le contesta: </p> <p>- Allison, Allison: &iquest;Que no te he dicho que no me gusta la n&uacute;mero nueve?</p> <p>- Lo s&eacute;, se&ntilde;or Ruperto, pero el gerente no me deja sentarlo en otra.</p> <p>- Allison, quiero la cinco y t&uacute; sabes que quiero la cinco. Es la que est&aacute; m&aacute;s cerca del piano, Allison, y sabes c&oacute;mo me gusta la m&uacute;sica. </p> <p>- &iquest;La m&uacute;sica o la pianista?</p> <p>- Las dos, para serte sincero. Allison, &iquest;ya le hablaste?- S&iacute; le habl&eacute;. Se&ntilde;or Ruperto, Lillian no quiere saber de usted. </p> <p>- Pero t&uacute; le dijiste que soy millonario y todo eso... </p> <p>- Lillian no se trag&oacute; el anzuelo. </p> <p>- Allison, no me dejas alternativa. Voy a hablar con Lillian yo mismo. </p> <p>- &iexcl;No, se&ntilde;or Ruperto, hoy no, ma&ntilde;ana me van a dar una entrevista para un aumento! </p> <p>- Lo siento, ya es tarde. </p> <p>Pellizcando infructuosamente el trasero de Allison, Ruperto se dirige hacia Lillian. La pianista es una joven de 20 a&ntilde;os, preciosa como s&oacute;lo ella lo puede ser, que toca el piano expertamente. Ruperto se le sienta al lado en la banqueta del piano. </p> <p>- Lillian, querida: me estabas esperando, &iquest;no? </p> <p>Lillian siente algo fr&iacute;o correr por su espalda. Son las manos de Ruperto, fr&iacute;as y asquerosas como las de un muerto. </p> <p>- Ruperto.. que susto, digo, qu&eacute; gusto! </p> <p>- El vestido te luce como a nadie. &iexcl;Qu&eacute; lindo te queda, querida! </p> <p>- Gracias. Me lo regal&oacute; mi novio. </p> <p>- &iexcl;Tu novio, seguro que es un galancito de pacotilla que anda por ah&iacute; escondi&eacute;ndose de m&iacute; porque me teme! D&eacute;jame decirte, querida, que todav&iacute;a estoy que me roncan los motores... </p> <p>- Y la voz ... </p> <p>- &iquest;C&oacute;mo? </p> <p>- &iexcl;Que c&oacute;mo no..! </p> <p>- Aj&aacute;. Mide dos metros y est&aacute; muy bien dotado. Ruperto siente el aliento del atleta en su cuello y se voltea. Descubre al mastodonte que es el novio de Lillian y literalmente se chorrea. </p> <p>Los ojos perrunos sonr&iacute;en como los de un manso gatito y la lengua viperina se le enrolla y no puede hablar. </p> <p>Tirado como un trapo en la acera del frente del piano bar, Ruperto se lamenta. Una dama se acerca caminando lentamente. Ruperto levanta la mirada y desde su humillante posici&oacute;n reconoce a Elda. Elda da un frenazo al reconocer al antiguo compa&ntilde;ero de escuela. Compadecida del pobre viejo, le habla dulcemente y le ofrece la oportunidad de cortejarla otra vez, pero ahora sin vulgaridades, le aclara. </p> <p>Ruperto emocionado se sienta derecho y comienza: </p> <p>- Elda querida, Elda de mi vida, Elda m&iacute;a... </p> <p>Trata de levantarse, y al hacerlo, se clava un vidrio roto en la mano, por lo que exclama abiertamente: </p> <p>- &iexcl;Mielda! </p> <h3>De la Soledad de Ruperto </h3> <p>No hubo forma de convencer a Elda de lo del vidrio roto. Tampoco pudo convencer a Allison que no fue su culpa el haberse convertido en un impertinente de piano bar. El tipo de persona que viene a mi mente en este momento es el conocid&iacute;simo &ldquo;Impertinente de piano bar.&rdquo; Todos nos hemos preguntado alguna vez cu&aacute;l es el m&oacute;vil de esta categor&iacute;a de gente sin categor&iacute;a, sin clase, que gusta de importunar a las mujeres cuando &eacute;stas tratan de pasar un momento agradable y feliz en un piano bar, solas o acompa&ntilde;adas. </p> <p>En este cap&iacute;tulo de su &ldquo;Manual del Ocioso&rdquo; describiremos a este personaje no tan legendario. Haremos un an&aacute;lisis detallado de todo aquello que hace que el impertinente de piano bar sea tan pintoresco y detestado como actualmente es. Comenzaremos con la infancia de este individuo imaginario al que llamaremos Ruperto. </p> <h3>La Infancia de Ruperto </h3> <p>La se&ntilde;ora bien vestida atraviesa la calle, llevando en sus manos dos bolsas llenas de comestibles y unos cuantos productos de belleza. Ruperto, de 12 a&ntilde;os, se le queda mirando. La se&ntilde;ora siente una fuerte mirada atravesando las bolsas de comestibles y siente temor. Al llegar al otro lado de la calle, descubre al peque&ntilde;o Ruperto escondido detr&aacute;s de un anuncio de lentejas, mir&aacute;ndola afanosamente. La se&ntilde;ora bien vestida no sabe si hacerle entender que ella lo ha descubierto o simplemente ignorarlo. El peque&ntilde;o Ruperto decide entrar en acci&oacute;n y ofrece a la se&ntilde;ora cargarle las bolsas. La se&ntilde;ora se arrepiente de haber pensado mal del peque&ntilde;o caballero y le entrega las bolsas confiadamente. Cuando menos se lo espera, el peque&ntilde;o Ruperto le abre las bolsas y comienza la conversaci&oacute;n. </p> <p>- As&iacute; pues, &iquest;conque comprandito? </p> <p>La se&ntilde;ora se desconcierta pero le contesta: </p> <p>- Pues s&iacute;, comprandito, para no perder la costumbre.</p> <p>- &iquest;Y qu&eacute; es esto que tenemos por aqu&iacute;? &iexcl;Ah! Mantequilla suave, de la que no tiene calor&iacute;as. Se&ntilde;ora, pero usted no necesita de eso, tiene una figura tan esbelta... </p> <p>La se&ntilde;ora se sonroja y le contesta halagada: </p> <p>- Ay s&iacute;, es que yo me cuido mucho. Voy al gimnasio dos veces por semana y bailo todas las noches hasta el amanecer.</p> <p>- &iquest;Que no la conozco yo entonces? Usted tiene un vestido rojo, muy escotado y muy corto, que se lo pone todas las noches cuando va quien sabe a d&oacute;nde. </p> <p>La se&ntilde;ora se molesta. Est&aacute; en la plenitud de su juventud, pero no ha logrado hacerse de ninguna novia. Todas las muchachas de su escuela lo conocen bien y no s&oacute;lo le temen sino que lo detestan. Sin embargo, una nueva estudiante es el blanco de Ruperto. Ella no lo conoce ni sabe de su fama, as&iacute; que probablemente logre conquistarla. Se propone firmemente no cometer indiscreciones para remendar su nombre. En el primer receso de la clase de la ma&ntilde;ana, Ruperto se acerca a Elda. </p> <p>- Elda, divina flor: &iexcl;Qu&eacute; ojos tan bonitos tienes! </p> <p>Elda se sonroja y se acerca confiada al gal&aacute;n que la piropea. Ruperto se siente due&ntilde;o de la situaci&oacute;n y le lanza un segundo piropo: </p> <p>- Elda, Elda querida, Elda de mi vida, Elda m&iacute;a.. &iexcl;Mi Elda! </p> <p>A los o&iacute;dos de Elda, la &uacute;ltima combinaci&oacute;n de palabras ha sonado vulgar. Lo abofetea y se larga. Esto es lo que llevar&aacute; a Ruperto a ser un impertinente de piano bar. El trauma causado por el desprecio de Elda cuando &eacute;l trataba de ser elegante y discreto por primera vez cambia su mente por completo, convirti&eacute;ndose en un monstruo, un ser m&aacute;s despreciable, un total incalable. </p> <h3>Ruperto en su Madurez </h3> <p>A los 35 a&ntilde;os, Ruperto ya no es el mismo ni&ntilde;o de pecas graciosas, cabellera abundante y cuerpo m&aacute;s o menos aceptable. Los desprecios de las mujeres lo han llevado a la deformidad de un cuerpo fofo, a una calvicie galopante y a unas l&iacute;neas de expresi&oacute;n causadas por la amargura. Todos estos detalles se acent&uacute;an cada d&iacute;a, al igual que se acent&uacute;a el rechazo de las hembras. Ruperto es m&aacute;s agresivo todav&iacute;a; la lengua se le ha vuelto viperina y los ojos perrunos. Tiene manos de pulpo y sus ventosas se adhieren a las pieles femeninas, costando gran trabajo desprenderse de ellas. Tiene la habilidad del b&uacute;ho para ver de noche y divisar a sus presas, y corre como un venado cuando las quiere agarrar. El hombre es un verdadero animal. </p> <h3>Ruperto en su Senilidad </h3> <p>El hombrecillo calvo, deforme y encorvado hace su entrada en el piano bar. Un rumor corre como reguero de p&oacute;lvora que, al encenderse, produce un sonido que emula el temido nombre: &ldquo;&iexcl;Ruperto!&rdquo; </p> <p>Ruperto ya ha entrado y busca una mesa. Una dama se acerca caminando lentamente. Ruperto levanta la mirada y desde su humillante posici&oacute;n reconoce a Elda. Elda da un frenazo al reconocer al antiguo compa&ntilde;ero de escuela. Compadecida del pobre viejo, le habla dulcemente y le ofrece la oportunidad de cortejarla otra vez, pero ahora sin vulgaridades, le aclara. </p> <p>Ruperto emocionado se sienta derecho y comienza: </p> <p>- Elda querida, Elda de mi vida, Elda m&iacute;a... </p> <p>Trata de levantarse, y al hacerlo, se clava un vidrio roto en la mano, por lo que exclama abiertamente: </p> <p>- &iexcl;Mielda! </p> <h3>De la Soledad de Ruperto </h3> <p>No hubo forma de convencer a Elda de lo del vidrio roto. I saw him every day coming back from work. The little duck was always there. I named him Philip.</p> <p>Philip the Duck was my very first experiment with acrylic paints. I did my drawing influenced by my quilting background and timidly started to paint with a brush. I didn’t like the result and started looking around to find something else to paint with. Then I saw the stencil sponges.</p> <p>I put a few touches on the support… and I liked it. I experimented more and thus the “vitralism” style was born – paintings that resemble stained glass. </p> <p>I added the crown molding after I finished the piece, then painted it trying to match colors and shapes.</p> <div>I build all my supports with the help of my family. I like the fact that I can decide sizes and shapes. What a beautiful bug, though!</p> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt">This particular Monarch butterfly was designed to be a quilt. Not able to endure big sewing projects anymore, the design became a painting. </p> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt">I used stencil sponges to work the background in <a title="Vitralism in Wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitralism" target="_blank">Vitralism style</a>, then used brushes for the butterfly’s body.</p> <p style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt">Butterflies, like birds, are colorful and vibrant.
