I was a foreigner when I moved to Texas five years ago, from Valencia Venezuela. I did not know what it was going to be like living in this huge state, where you need a car to go to anywhere. I finally saw with my own eyes authentic cowboys, with boots and hats, walking on the streets instead of riding horses, and what surprised me the most was the friendly way Texans greet others every time they have the opportunity.
Five years after, I am still a foreigner, but I am not a stranger anymore. Now I wear boots and hats, I greet people every time I see them and I am used to distances. I enjoy driving while listening nice music.
Texas has given to me a lot of good things, very good friends, a new language that I’m still learning, and most of all, the joy to know I made the right decision when I moved to this friendly place.
