In my leisure time I used to write very unusual things. I have many chapters describing the funny way to deal with the facts of life. It’s addressed to people who take life too seriously. Taking life that way is the stressing thing.
In my research about people, stress and amusement, I discovered that a good laugh every five minutes is like taking Tylenol every four hours. Happy thoughts, as the philosopher Peter Pan used to say, make you feel like flying - although he was pretty serious about it.
The idea is to look for the funny part in everything. There is fun when you make copies in the copy machine: it has such a rhythm, you can dance with it. Even taking the elevator: look at those new faces that seem to think “oh, my God, it’s getting crowded”, or just watch people in a line, when the roof seems to be so interesting that everybody needs to take a glance.
Good sense of humor is the best medicine for stress. You won’t develop too much wrinkles, you’ll look healthy and more attractive. People will wonder what is it with you, and you can say there’s nothing wrong, just that life is not that bad and is worth it to live it.
So, forget Tylenol. Start laughing. Stress in not going to be a barrier between you and happiness.
